The only really dumb question is the one ya don't bother asking.
Mark A Shields: ok with some help from this site and my dad i think i have the numbers to figure it out.
head cumbustion chamber: 76cc
bore: 4.040"
stroke: 3.48"
gasket thickness: .040"
piston dish volume: 13cc
deck clearance @ TDC: .30"
head gasket volume: 9.1cc

On that Program if yu just enter the gasket thickness
.040" the cr is overstated because the gasket is actually bigger than the bore size. 4.166 to 4.04
I enter .0425 instead of .040" to compensate
This represents the true gasket volime of 9.1cc's

so what do ya get with some smooth 58cc home/ ported heads ?
ok based on that, i think my compression is somewhere between 8 and 8.5:1, prolly closer to 8 i think. so i think a set of 58cc heads will get me up closer to 9.5:1 i think, should give some performance. so do you guys thnk im right??

. Can you tell me where to find the casting numbers?
Concerning compression, if my original set are the 416's, will the 081's set my compression a little higher, I think I read in my Haynes manual that I too have 8.5:1 right now, and I'd like to go a little higher eventually, so I'm keeping tuned to this thread.
Thanks for any help.
