Starting on the engine rebuildin'

I'm going to have my engine bored and stroked to a 383. In the process, I'll be putting forged parts (crank, rods and pistons) into the engine. Since I haven't shopped around for parts like that before, can anybody reccomend a good brand? Price isn't that much of an issue, but if I can find good quality for less, then of course I'd rather get that.

Also, how long does it take to bore and stroke an engine?

if the engine you want to work on is the one in the sig. then you cant get a 383 out of that. you need to start with a 350 then bore (+.030) and stroke (3.75") to get the 383, if you've never done this kind of work before I would recommend buying a already built 383 or have a speed shop build one for you.

Get the complete rotating assembley from Hardcore Racing outta Summit p/n HCR-216-86005 for $1795, then add the new trick flow top end combo Summi p/n TFS-K314-500-450 for $1729.95, Edelbrock Victor Jr. manifold EDL-2975 for $178.95 and there's your badass long block. Stick on a big nasty carb cause it's gonna be puttin out over 500hp on pump gas and you'll have to feed it, some good spark and a beefy drivetrain, then hold on

since money isn't an object look at lunati for a complete rotating assembly, ohio crankshaft and callies both make good cranks. pistions i'd look at c&a or j&e. rods i'd stick with lunati or eagle. take about hour or so to bore 8 holes and for stroke all you have to do is lay the jack down or cut a check.

Oh don't worry red, this isn't for the 305. (Though, that'd be one hell of a boring job.) I've got a 350 in the 'vette that I've decided needs a little more umph to it. The IROC can stay the sensible vehicle for now. hehe
