Making the switch......
I'm thinking about dumpin' my 84 for something newer.
I'm thinking I'd like to get my hands on a newer IROC or just a Z, but definitely a thirdgen.
I'm wanting fuel injection. While my Z makes good power above 4000 rpm, so what. It's not really that often that I'm up there. Not to mention, I'm tired of playing with my carb and other stuff.
Any ideas, suggestions and so on.....
I remember reading a post about a year ago along the lines of comparing the benefits of a carbed Z to an FI.

Well, I don't recall seein pics of your car, so this is the choice I made, ditch it and get an IROC-Z, 350 or like a 91-92 Z. Better lookin IMO, and will be quicker, eventually at least.

Well, I haven't posted any pics. Mine isn't a shower, it's a goer. I've not put any money in cosmetics yet, mostly just because I'd rather finish the engine mods before I go makin' it perty.
I'm also thinking that cosmetically it would be a step up. Not to mention that my AC system is shot, I'm sick of playing with the carb issues and while I'm familiar with the car and am unfamiliar with the FI, it would be another challenge.
Don't some of the thirdgens come with remote key entry and stuff?
What years came with a 350?

It's the ol' "devil you know vs. devil you don't" situation.
Any used car is going to have "issues". At least with this one you know what they are.
I can appreciate being tired of hassling with certain things. But, most likely you can fix what's wrong for less money than buying another car and fixing what's wrong with it. No power below 4k and 9 mpg sound like a cam choice error. AC isn't cheap to fix, but it can be done.
However, it's hard to put a price tag on something new and a challenge. Only you can decide if the emotions outweigh the money. Enjoy the agony, and if you decide to go through with it the buyer's/seller's remorse (which won't last too long).

Well I don't get 9 mpg. I actually get about 20 on the highway. Around 12 or so in town, I think.
The cam I have selected I feel is a good fit, it's the Comp Cams XE 262 (I'm pretty sure that's teh number, can't recall the specs on teh top of my head right now).
I'm just thinking that I'm ready for a change. I probably will procrastinate until the cows have gone, come home, and been eaten, but I've been mulling it over now and again for a while.
One of the things I like best about my L69 is that it is almost like a "last of the breed". However, if I keep this thing, I'm gonna go get a 350 and slap it in there.
RB, I think you're right though, the grass is greener on the other side of the fence........but the dog sh*ts on both sides.
