Help Please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i am having more problems w/ my 88 camaro. the left turn signal doesn't blink. it constantly stays on when i push the lever down. the right side works fine. don't know what is wrong with it. need help. getting very frustrated with this car.
And if you turn on the parking lamps along with the hazard flashes, you'll expose any grounding problems you may have, too. If all the lamps work but one acts "oddly", you may have a ground issue at that lamp socket.
as far as staying on, the switch on the lever is probly screwed up. same prob on my 83. i have to turn off the signal by pushing the lever back. i dont know how to fix it. if you find out, let me know. as far as the bulb, i think everyone is correct.
The 'no flashing' routine is built into the car to let you know a bulb has blown. It works by only flashing if the correct resistance with all the bulbs working is detected. If not, it stops flashing - dumb idea because you still need the rest to flash, and any slight fault stops all the flashers on the one side.
If it was the switch you would not get any lights on, if it was the flsher unit, both sides would stop. So it must be a bulb or a poor connection somewhere near the bulb.

Not turning itself off sounds like the little plastic cam for the signal lever in the steering wheel is busted. You'll have to remove the steering wheel and replace the lever. They are expensive at the dealer, but I saw them at Advance Auto and Autozone for cheap. You'll also need to get a steering wheel puller (I got one at Autozone for free ... leave a deposit and "borrow" their tools, later return for the deposit).
Make sure you disconnect the battery - the horn plate provides a nice jolt. I assume by the name there is no airbag to deal with, but if there is, make sure you disconnect everything in the right order, so it doesn't take your face off!

Well .... I don't know if this helps or not, but....
Auto Zone is on the web autozone.com ... maybe could order the signal lever and have it shipped? (I'm not real familiar with shipping Intl) - I'd be happy to get a part number from the actual one in the store if it helps.
And....
Pullers are not that expensive - check out harborfreight.com - they have lotsa cheap tools - nothing real high quality, but does the job ... maybe could get a puller shipped as well - I think the last time I saw one in-store was like $15 US.
I don't know .... maybe not feesible options - but just a thought.

You don't need a lever to make the turn signal cancel. The lever has nothing to do with that.
There's little springs attached to the turn signal cam, under the steering wheel lock plate. Sounds like one of those has fallen of. Probably laying in the column still actually. You might be able to just put it back where it came from and it will work.

still not working
i replaced the bulb today now the park lamp lights up. tried putting on my emergency flashers and the back tail lights were flashing and my passenger side park lamp was flashing but the driver side park lamp doesn't flash the light is just on. i tried the turn signal and the driver side park lamp still will not flash. please help need to get my vehicle inspected and all this crap is falling apart. now the horn doesn't work. my baby is slowly falling apart.
Yo will have to go around and check every bulb is tightly secured. I had the exact same symptoms - well the car did anyway, and it was a bad connector for the bulb.
Several other members had the same exact problem too and cured it the same way. You have to check the bulbs are in a clean connector, they have good contacs and like everyone says, you must check the ground is OK.
That is all it is. No biggee
How much is gas in Germany now?
The horn is most likely the fuse.
Is there anyone out there who can help you with the checks. It is easier when you have help, things don't look so bleak.
I like helping because I get to spend someone elss money on parts, and if it still doesn't work I can still drive home.

NO HELP OUT HERE. i hate germany.german mechanics have no clue. i tried to get sokme help with my starter problems and the mechanic didn't even know what a camaro was. it was the first time he ever seen a thirdgen. gas is like 3.18 euro a gallon. i'll try to check all the bulbs again. what abot the ground issue???? what wires would i have to check?????
Go back and look through the archives. I've probably said it fifty times if I've said it at all. The Germans might build a fine engine, but they don't have a grasp of electrical controls, wiring, electronics, etc. Harmon Kardon was actually a Dutch...
Having worked many years in industry, and having seen the "best" Deutschlander efforts to design and assemble electrical and electronic controls, they are woefully unimpressive by other worldly standards. SCREW IEC and all of it's equivalents, and thank the Lord for NEMA. It must be something genetic, that the French stole from the German genome. At least Voltaire had a clue...
So, you're on your own, with only western resources for help. Check all the lamp connections and grounds. Don't overlook the side marker lamps in front, since they share a ground and can create "funky" operation of the turn signals. The lack of a horn is probably also a grounding issue, and may be the same one.
