RS Camaro Questions
RS Camaro Questions
I have a chance to get a 92 (If I remember correctly) RS camaro with 101k miles, and its in damn good shape. The trouble is, it has a flipping V-6 motor. After test driving a 91 LX mustang today, I dont know if I can go with anything any less.
BUT...
I had a fabulous idea of getting it, and eventually getting a 350 crate motor for it. That would be a very fun project for me and my buds.
So whats the word? Would the engine fit? Any reccomdations on what motor to buy? I think I can live with the V-6 until its crate motor time.. maybe.. hehe.
(plus the camaro looks better.)
Also what about transmissions? It has a 5 speed, but im unsure of what code, since I know nothing about fbodies really.
In your opinion, is it worth it to buy a V-6 maro thats in really good shape and drop in a new motor later, or should I hold out for one that already has a V8?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I take it the Stang was a 5.0? quick cars stock, I like the notches better, that's what i have for a daily driver, but slow as a terd 4 banger.
The V6 RS will fit a 350 no problem, but then you're working with stock 6 cyl suspension which will need to be upgrade as well.

Oh, and performance isnt a HUGE issue with me. I am addicted to torque, though.
Like I said, I would buy the mustang if I could. Its within my price range, but I have no credit, and im too impatient to save. My poor car is slowly giving out, and I need something else sooner or later.

If you have the know how, of have the friends that do then go for the V6 then drop in the 350 later, taking your time with the build up, will get you the killer car in the end.
what do they want for the V6, and does it have T-tops?

2500 for it, and yes it is T-Tops.
102k miles I think is what they said.. we looked at the car, and there was no rust that we could see. We couldnt see the engine, because the dealership was closed, but im going down there tomorrow to have a better look.
I dont have ALL the knowhow, but im a quick learner!

Well I would go with supping up the RS
If you have the money to drop a 350 in it and not to mention the tools then go for it. I havn't had to do an engine swap but I do know how to do it. You will need an engine lift, and a good tool set with a torque wrench. Hope you got around 4 grand to drop into it
And I am not sure on this but I think I read something on having to swap out the tranny. You will have to do more research on that one too. It might just make the tranny go bad faster

For $2500 on a V6, that body better be in perfect shape, no rust and great paint.
I bought my 86 IROC with like 80k miles on it, granted it was an LG4 V8, for $1700. Pretty much as you see it here, minus the polished wheels. and tips, there is a dent on the driver side fender though.
