brakes on a stock 89 RS

ok about how long (mileage wise) should front brakes on an 89 (or any third gen) RS last. im wondering and i cant find my manual.

It is so dependant on the type of pads, driving style and driving conditions that it is very hard to pin down a milage. Inspection is the only way to determine if the pads need to be changed.

not neccessarily.... usually is the sensors that start squeeling.

Very true, however, alot of the high performance graphite pads do not have the bloody little devils on them, and sometimes if they are aluminum tangs the snap off. I'm just paranoid when it comes to brakes.

yea ok....for all you brake enthusiasts.... as far as inner and outter pads go.... when calipers get old do they tend to wear like 60%(inside)/40%(outside) and 70/30 as they get older or do they hold a pretty even rate throughout the years?

yeah i agree its hard to pin point a certain lastness on brakes..

depends on what quality pads, rotors, etc... and most importantly driver style..


i usually check them once every 3 oil changes. which would be 9,000 miles i think..

That's good sound advice. Never chance anything that's gonna help you to stop. A periodic check every month or so is what I do.
