After market gauge voltmeter question
OK. In my satanic vehicle (FORD) I have a cheap aftermarket gauge set....coolant temp., oil pressure and volt meter.
Volt meter isn't hooked up, but I'd like to keep an eye on it. There is a positive and negative connection on the back, but those terminals are also where the braces that hold all three gauges in and also act as a ground go.
I should be able to just hook it up right? I'm worried about current running through the ground straps and melting the whole thing.
Sorry for the dumb (I'm sure it will be) question, but I'd rather be dumb in question than action.

Sounds like a pretty legitimate question to me!
If you're concerned about the hot lead grounding and making a mess, just run it through an inline fuse holder from Radio Shack or any electronics place. Put a small fuse in place (1 Amp perhaps) and you're safe. Everything will be insulated and happy.
