HELP!!! Some cable is hanging under my car!!!!

I don't know where the heck it goes. It's wrapped in the same black tubing as a sensor that plugs right into the transmission.
It has 2 female prongs and looks like one of the pressure fittings. All plastic, you push it in and hear it go "click" But it definatly plugs into somewhere by the tranny cause it only has about 8 inch radius.
I took the pic from under the drivers side. The car is a 1988 305tbi camaro. 5 spd, with cruse cntrl.

you should have taken a pic of the actual plug..

It may not even be used since it's a 5 speed.

Speedo works and so does the tach. However my oil pressure is reading around 55-60 and just started 3 days ago. Possible oil pressure sender???

It's a bad pic of the plug, but it resembles the plug for the EGR solenoid and the plug for the solenoid on the charcoal canister. However, with the plug in that location it can't possibly be one of those.

OR...if that plug has 4 wires (I originally thought it had two) then it looks like the plug for an automatic transmission. I don't know if the harness for the 5-speed included that plug or not.

If it's white and has four wires going into it, then it's probably the plug for a 700R4 tranny...in which case you have nothing to worry about..but need to secure it somewhere.

thats exactly what I was thinking, it's probably for a 700R4.

There is no way its an oil pressure sender or speedo. They usually use the same wiring harnesses like they do hoods etc. it cheaper to make & use the same thing than to make specific ones.

It sound like your tranny has been changed. I beleive that is you TCC wires. I may be wrong though, alot of them are different. ANd if like said prior you have a stick then it is leftovers, and not to worry. Just zip tie it up somewhere.

I just went and check some wiring diagrams. That is your neutral safety switch plug. You did say yellow and purple wires right?

I guess you can start your car in gear without the clutch pedal depressed. I would get that fixed before something bad happens.

Since I've owned it, I have been able to start it without the clutch depressed, never tried it in gear

Yellow and purple are electric speedometer wires, but since you have an 88 Chevy, you have a cable driven speedometer, hence the empty plug. If you had a Pontiac, that plug would be used.

That connector is hanging loose on my car as well, and I know nothing was ever touched before.

Don't know how i missed this, but it's not really TPI tech. Moving to General Tech. Feel free to gripe and have it moved to electronics or TBI if you'd rather.

Why would I gripe? You have a great forum here and the replies that were given helped me greatly.

the plug for the neutral safety switch should be on the inside of the car and it wouldn't be in the plastic wrap stuff. if it's the NSS it'll be two female blade connectors. my guess was gonna be reverse lights too but now i'm not sure.

I know I'm ressurecting this thread from the dead but no one has answered this in case someone does a search and finds it. That plug is for the VSS. It hooks directly onto the 700R4 transmission and controls the speedo in a Firebird TBI or TPI car. Camaros had a cable driven speedo up until 90 I believe. It also controls the TCC lockup and runs a signal to the ecm. That cable goes from the transmission to the c100 plug and from there goes to the buffer box that's located in the passenger side dash. From there it splits into wires going to the speedo, ecm, etc. Hope this helps anyone doing a search.
