When i turn on my car the rpm gage shoots to 3000 rpms and then it stalls and wont start. It happened all of a sudden too. New fule pump and fuel filter. Could it be a vacume leak???

 

If there is a vacuum hose come off somewhere you can get high revs, especially if combined with cold weather when the engine is already wanting to rev high.
But have you checked for anything holding the throttle open.

If it wont restart and you just put in a new pump, maybe you need to check it is OK with a pressure guage.

What engine do you have, carbs or injection etc? Are you sure you got the correct pump for the model and year.
