distributor, timing?
ok? the car runs ok when it is cold, a little hesitation but not that bad. when it warms up it runs fine from about 500- 2500 if u rev it past 2500 it makes a grinding sound, it sounds like it is coming from the distributor from inside the car but I cant really tell. once you do that once or twice it sends and error 42, electron spark control. after it grinds the engine retards and will not do it again, it will run fine but the timing is so has retarded so much theres not the power of the 350 there anymore it feels like a 65hp Honda.
I know its not my esc module I have already replaced that, its not my knock sensor either its reading fine. I am guessing it could be maybe my coil isn't putting out because my tach is reading screwy? any body run into this before?

sounds like a mechanical problem thts triggering the knock sensor. Elaborate on what the grinding sound is like and maybe we can get a better idea of what it might be.

You could remove the distributor cap and check the distributor shaft for radial and axial play. It's possible that a worn distributor is causing interference between the pickup ans reluctor, or that axial play could cause the pickup signal to be too weak.
Grinding/rubbing noises at higher RPMs can also be caused by a loose timing chain.

it sounds exactly like grinding gears on a manual transmission, but no where near as loud. does anyone know voltage from the coil to the tach? it has to be in the distributer cuz its throwing the famous error 42 and its not the esc module or the wiring...
sorry i forgot to add... whatever it is resets, when i turn the car off i am assuming that the timing resets. when i rev it, it grinds then the timing retards and the car thows the 42??

its possible that the upper bushing in the distributer and/or your timing chain are worn like it says above. Skip the esc tests and find out what is making that noise. Thats your problem, its porbably not electrical.

that would have to be some whicked detonation To me bad spark knock always sounded like there where a bunch of 3/8" in ball bearings bouncing around inside the cylinders.
