How MUCH extra oil did he put into the engine? I've never heard of an engine being filled too full, then not run and the extra oil drained out, and it not running? Are you sure that maybe no wires got knocked and disconnected? Is there oil covering the entire engine?

How many times did you crank it over?
If he filled it right to the valve covers (as I'm guessing he did?), the combustion chamber surely has some oil in it.
The fact that it will turn over is promising. Sometimes when the entire engine gets filled like that, a couple of cylinders can get so much oil in them, that during cranking the pistons try to compress the oil. This usually doesn't work.
If the spark plugs check out OK, the wires are attached, and all the other little things are OK, I'd recommend giving it a bunch of seconds to crank, hopefully clearing oil from the chambers.

Have you pulled the plugs since you replaced them? The new ones may have become fouled, too. Pull one, and let us know.

if it's filled up to the brink like ntchrist assumed, I'd think that instead of cranking it and hoping it blows out the valves, it would be better to remove all the spark plugs and crank the engine because if there's oil in it, the spark plugs aren't going to get any healthier, and the spark plug sits lower in the head than the intake or exhaust valves, so it would drain more oil from the cylinders.

i will try removing all plugs and cranking it over, i've noticed that the engine isn't cranking over as fast as it should, the battery is fully charged.

good point... how much oil are we talking about? One or tow extra quarts wont do anything but filling it up untill the oil runs out the top of the ds valvecover is a different story.

no no...he was on a road trip with buddies and recently switched to synthetic so thefore at every fuel stop he'd check the oil.....now being synthetic i guess he couldn't see the level and thought it was low so he'd add a quart or two...until reaching his destination and it started to bog.so he took it to the garage and explained what he'd done (after the fact) and they drained something like 6 EXTRA litres to bring it down to the normal level....now he drove it back home (8hrs) and he said it would bog a day later he drove it again and it just died!...so this is where i come in....i need help cause this thing isn't starting....

heh... guess no one told him to check the oil level witht he dip[stick level so the boundry can be seen. Hmm... interesting that its giving you problems after driving it so long. Such a long drive should ahve cleared all the oil out unless there is mechanical damage somehere. Just as a complete off the wall WAG, maybe all the oil damaged the mechanical fuel pump on the side of the block some how. Never heard of something like that happening before but who knows. Im no expert so im probably just talking out my ***. A more realistic idea would be to check for fuel and spark. After all, its a good idea to check everyhting that would cause a no start. Nothing worse then chasing down a problem that doesnt exist only to find your real problem is something else.

Check that there's fuel, check that there's air getting in.. lastly check for spark... its all you can really do without tearing the engine down.

Your plugs should be dry and tan in color, your ignition should spark, ensure your pcv valve isn't blocked with that much oil it could very well be..., check all vacuum tubes for blockages.

is that crank over slower, or idle slower?

if the engine was flooded with oil and you were cranking it, the starter was put under one hell of a load, it could be in bad shape.

the crank over is slower.....it doesn't run yet this is what i'm trying to do....i don't think there's any mechanical damage.......

pull the plugs, it sounds like you got some oil in the cylinder (liquid doesn't compress). crank the engine over with the plugs out and *hopefully* that's the problem... my dumbass friend did it once
