Eng vacuum works quite well at getting air/fuel into the eng.
You need vacuum for the items you mentioned plus possibly some emission equip if installed.
The water control (heater) valve I believe is vac controlled if installed on your car.
Some older trannys (Turbo-400 for sure) need eng vac.
Cruise control on at least my car (82-Z).
Not sure abt the later models.
Some cars use it to lower folding headlights.
The heater-A/C controls use vacuum to direct air flow from defroster to floor and A/C vents if avaliable. Without the vacuum, the flapper doors are spring-loaded to their default position and direct air to the defroster ducts all the time.
Not real sure I understand the point of the question.
Are you planning a big cam?

I was just wondering If I could run a xe268 cam in a 350 and have enough vacuum for all that stuff. I guess that should have been my real question, but I was also wondering what vacuum was even used for. thanks for the replys
