car acting weird

The last like 2 days my car has been acting kind of weird, its idling lower than normal, and when its idling all of my lights get dim if there on, when i give it a lil gas they brighten up, also when i let off the gas in gear its popping louder than normal, it backfired once yesterday, i was thinking the light problem was my altenator but what would cause the other stuff?

Sounds like one cylinder is misfiring, and when you goose the gas, the extra unburned fuel that is passing through the engine, is getting ignited by the other cylinders' exhaust. And of course the RPMs come up to a point where the alt can generate enough electricity to satisfy the car's demand. Everything you describe is pretty normal for a motor that needs a tune-up.

the engine only has like 4k miles on it, it has always had a little miss in it, if you stand in by the exhaust while its idling you can hear it miss every once in a while but ive never been able to figure out why, its got all new plugs, accel 8.8 wires, i replaced the coil with a flamethrower(that helped a lil bit) any ideas on why it could be missing like this? makes me wonder what i could run on all 8

have you checked your distributor?

maybe one of the contacts could be corroded, or worn down.

you didnt mention that you changed the cap and rotor.
and you should also check the timing.
when my timing gets a little retarded it will do what you are describing.
check initial timing and makes sure it advances when you give it gas.

also you could have a plug wire grounding to something...

it would cause a miss and your poping exhaust and would also be a large drain on the electrical.
