Were to buy a 383 stroker kit????????
I was thinking about putting my own kit together, but were are all you guys getting your parts/kits at?
Thanks for any info. I have looked at a few places on the net, but would like to talk to someone who has bought and installed the kits first.
Also what is the pro's/con's on picking your own parts to match?
thanks again.

I haven't built one but I know summit carries a kit. As far as why to get a kit - it is eaiser than finding out what kind of rods an balencer you need to getand possibly skrewing things up.

PowerHouse has a good 383 stroker deal, add the extra $200, to get it balanced with a new damper and flexplate.

I would avoid the Powerhouse (enginekits.com) kit.
I ordered their pre-balanced street-friendly 383 kit.
The pistons hit the counterbalancer. When I called them back, they said "yeah, that happens sometimes, just grind the counterweights".
They also said to torque the rod bolts to 65 ft/lbs. I did. Ruined all the ARP bolts. When I called them back abt the wrong torque they gave me, thay said "that's too bad".
Their "CR3" (which are actually re-conditioned factory rods w/ARP bolts) rods can't be ground enough to clear a high lift cam.
Since I couldn't use the rods, I had to buy new pistons too.
They wouldn't take any of the un-used parts back for credit either.
Just yesterday, I recieved my new rods and pistons from "Dirt Track Thunder". That outfit isn't much better. They sent me some cheezy Prowler rods instead of the Eagles I ordered and over-charged me for the pistons.
Since I'm now using H-beam rods, I'll have to grind quite a bit more on the block to clear the rods. That will mean another (3rd) trip back to the machine shop to vat the eng afterwards, another set of freeze plugs, another set of cam bearings, and probably a few more things I haven't thought of yet.
For the money (not to mention the time) I have spent on the "cheap" stroker kit, I could have bought an Eagle Kit. Wish I would have now.

thanks for the tips guys.
I will probably just put my own kit together using a scat 9000 crank, TRW forged pistons, and not decided on rods yet.
I will have to wait awhile. Looks like my motor funds just flew south for the winter. Long story.
I will keep these places in mind when I do decide to buy my parts.
thanks for the help
