quick valve spring ???

I have a set of 081 heads that i am porting and polishing, then gonna send them to the machine shop for a valve job, screw in studs, and just have them cleaned up and checked. My question is, what is the stock diamater of the valve springs in these heads?? I think they are 1.250", but i want to make sure that i dont have to have them machine the heads for bigger valve springs. I am ordering the comp 981 springs.

Yes, stock is 1.25" If you're having anything done to them at the shop already, get them to cut the guides down to .530" or .500" for Teflon seals, and get the spring pockets enlarged to 1.45". Might save you a whole lot of grief later on. 1.45" springs cost about the same, and they won't be "too much" for any street type cam.

I will deffintly look into that suggestion, it looks like the bigger springs are only about $15 more, and would be good insurance. Im just starting to get worried about the shop bill, this was supposed to be a budget build up but i would rather do it right the first time
