lashing valves while engine is running?

What is the method of lashing the valves while the engine is runnng? I'm lashing a l98 with the roller lifters and roller cam. IF i remember right, you losten them so they clack. Then, tighten them to the point where they get quiet. Then turn them 1/4 lash.

Right?

¼ is good for a relatively frequently adjusted engine; ½ turn sets the lifter plunger about midway in the bore, i.e. the center of its range; ¾ turn is typical for a new motor to allow for parts to wear in.

To keep the mess down, adjust all 16 of them to zero (no clatter) as quick as you can, then after that's done, shut the motor off and add your chosen preload.

Axle/Gears: 4th Gen 10 bolt/Detroit TrueTrac 4.
or u can invest 20$ into the rocker arms clips that keep oil from splashing all over the place.
