'86 LG4 idling too high and flooding
I recently had my tranny rebuilt, and ever since, my car is idling too high. I don't know if something got misadjusted when reinstalling the tranny or what. It idles high all the time now and will flood if I let it idle in park before I shut it down, which is making restarting a real pain (it will restart if I let it sit for a while). When I went to adjust the idle screw, I noticed that the piece that the throttle cable hooks into isn't closing all the way back to the idle screw anymore. What's wrong/what can I do about it.
Thanks.
Thanks.
1.) clean/degrease everything associated with the throttle.
2.) replace your throttle return spring - it's probably junk.
The flooding... I don't really think that that would have anything to do with the position of the throttle relative to the idle screw - the fast idle does though.

I had the same problem. I just put a different throttle return spring on and it solved the problem. But if could just be really dirty and its not allowing the throttle return to retract all the way. I'd get a new spring and spray it with some carb cleaner or something.
