Hot lashing?
Hot lashing?
I went to lash my valves with the engine running and I am a little confused. When I backed out the rocker nut, the rocker started clacking. As I put a few turns on the nut, the clacking got quiet. But it was still there, just a lot less noisy. I put not quite 1/4 turn till the clacking was completely gone. Then I put 1/3 turn on the nut. Am I supposed to consider zero lash when the clacking quiets down the first time? This is when it goes from loud clacking to quiet clacking. OR am I supposed to consider zero lash when the clacking stops completely?
any help is greatly appricated

Sure valves and rockers are noisy. You will never get all of the clacking out of them. I use the crane gold full roller and when I am hot lashing I back them off until they clack then take them down until the motor has a slight miss to it and back it off until the miss goes away.
