Average Drivetrain Powerloss?

Does anybody have any idea what a typical 3rd gen gets for percentage of drivetrain power loss?

How much for a 700r4 with a 10 bolt?

How much for a 700r4 with a 9 bolt?

How much for a T5 with a 10 bolt?

How much for a T5 with a 9 bolt?

How much for a T56 with a 10 bolt?

How much for a T56 with a 9 bolt?

I've heard anywhere between 10% and 40%...what's everybody losing from fly to pavement?

I don't have exact figures but I've always assumed about 10% for a manual (plus everything behind it) and 12-20% for an automatic, depending on how loose the converter is.

heres my experience...

on the engine dyno, open headers, it made 520 Horses with the blower.

In the car, with hedman 1 5/8 headers opened up to the world, it put down nearly 435~ horses at the wheels. this with a TH350 tranny, 2400 stall

By simply hooking up the exhaust (hedman Ypipe, flowmaster catback (no cat)) the exact same combo put down only 402~ horsepower. thats 33 HP gone up because of exhaust restriction.

oh, it gets better.
By going to a 700R4 with a 2400 ACT 9.5" lockup, It now put down 458 horsepower at the wheels, with the exhaust hooked up. thats more than with a Th350 and open headers...

so there is somthing to be said for having the right converter / tranny combo. there is also somthing to be said for open exhaust.

And more can be said for using synthetic fluid in the driveline. You can reduce power loss even more with more "slippery" fluids. SLP did a chassis dyno test of a 'B' car with only a synthetic fluid change and picked up 17 RWHP. IIRC, there was an article in CHP with their test results a few years ago. I used to have a copy of it around here somewhere in my "fire-hazard" storage system...

Ive heard 15% is the usual. But up to 40???? I dont know about that one, but I do know that the Mitsubishi Vr-4 all wheel drives have about 30%. But there are alot of things to consider, wheel weight probably is one, driveshaft length, weight, construction, and balance, I would think posi and no posi would, etc etc.
