Gasoline question

Is it safe to run aviation fuel in a carb-ed small block chevy? somelike like 105 or 115 octane.

Closest race fuel place is 25 miles but an executive Air port is less than a mile away.

if it's leaded and you have a cat over time it'll cause problems. if it's for the car/engine in your sig there's a very good chance you'll lose not make power running higher octane fuel.

Yes. Even though it's called "low lead", it still has tetraethyl lead, and will vertically fornicate your cat converter palladium coating and oxygen sensor(s) in time.

I don't know where you are, but in California (and possibly other places as well) it would be illegal to use that gas because you don't pay any road use taxes on it (you have to pay for the privilege of driving that vehicle on the road). Did you check to see if the airport would even sell it to you?

Have you checked the price on racing gas?

My car has no Catalytic convertor or O2 sensors, so I don't think that will be a problem.

There are no emission laws or vehicle inspections in Florida. Governor Bush ended them 2 years ago.

The reason I am asking is because my buddy and I were thinking about building a engine with 12:1 or 13:1 compression and the closest Sonoco Race fuel station is 25 miles away.

Edit- I have checked the price of race fuel, its upto 4 bucks a gallon, not cheap, but neither is aviation fuel.

Well, that's an entirely differnt story. Other than the lead and anti-icing additives, it's basically gasoline.

It might be a good idea to do a web search for more info. I am under the impression that AvGas has a much lower Reid vapor pressure than MoGas (something like a 100 deg lower fractionation endpoint).

You may not be able to get AvGas to vaporize without heat on the intake manifold...
