Question about motor that I built last summer

Well I drove the car around all summer, and a little into the fall. racked up about 6 or 7K on the motor. ran good, made good power, but it was quite a bit lower than expected.

MY question is about when cranking the motor over by hand. you know to adjust the valves or to insert the distributor or something. IT is REALLY hard to turn. Would strong seat pressures on the vavle springs cause it to be like this? I was working on my buddy's 96 SS. and I realized that thing is so damn easy to turn over.. Would it be that mine is a stick and his was an auto?

Here are the specs on the motor:
406ci
AFR195 heads
10.5 compression
Hydraulic roller 230/236 .510/.520 112LSA
Edelbrock RPM Air-Gap
750cfm Edelbrock carb
it made 320 RWHP and 380 RWT

But I feel it should have been higher in the HP for this set-up. If anyone has insite thanks for any help.

reason it's hard to turm is compression and a good seal for the compressed air. remove the plugs and it'll be way easier to turn. i'd guess your friends engine isn't as well sealed as yours is.

thats pretty much my setup, mine was next to impossible to turn over by hand, what kind of rear are you running? what are the specs on those heads? I would think your car would be faster than 14's, ive had mine out for one quick run down my road, and man it ran GOOD, it would of ate up my 2nd car (thunderbird supercoupe) and it runs mid-low 14's

no the stock 95 ran 14.0. The 83 had traction problems but trapped 109. ran a 13.5.
