Buy a Car Alarm.

Hi all. I picked up my '85 trans am in January, 2002. Faithfully loved her and bought her things, treated her well. Monday moring some fockers stole her right out of my college's parking lot... video survalience and all.

The cops found her on wednesday afternoon. Surfice it to say she was not in that good shape.

Everything that was not metal is gone. And i didnt have theft insurance. Sooo i dont think i'll be posting on this board very much for a while.

Just felt inclined to come say hi, show off my pictures and encourage everyone to invest in some kind of theft deterent, even a fake LED flasher for your dash can do a lot. I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy.

Damn man I'm sorry. I feel so sad looking at those pictures. That's a sick thing to do. I hope the people that did it get what's coming to them.

That's awful news. I'm sorry to hear that it turned out so bad. I've also had a trans am stolen from me because I hadn't thought I needed an alarm. We should all have one. People like to steal our cars for joy rides, etc. Promise us you'll replace it with another?

hehe i think i'll probably wind up with another trans am. I'm a competitive waterskier, probably will go pro in the next year or so... so basically the constraints of my new vehicle is it needs to be cool, fast, GM... and be able to fit my ski.
so basically camaro or firebird, and i'm quite partial to the latter.

i'll keep you guys posted, thanks for your sorry's and buy an alarm!

Ouch. 3rd gens do need alarms of some sort. I've had to break into mine before. It took about 1 minute to run an antenna taped to a dowl into my car from the back of the DS glass to the power lock button on the opposite side of the car. Ironically I was there at the store to get a spare key made.

UGH...this literally makes me sick ot my stomach..TRANSAM i feel for you,i really do. my red 82 transam was vandalized by a bitch, while mine no where near as bad as yours...i feel your pain man.

if i was in your shoes...the person..or person's who stole my car..would get the exact same treatment they gave the car. sorry if this seems harsh...but stupid pathetic **** like this pisses me off.

there are 3 things you dont screw with

a mans ps2
a mans woman
and hehe..HIS DAMN CAR!

and to those of you who say...blah blah its just a car..thats pure
everyone of us here knows we consider are cars more than just a huink of metal to get from point a to b. alot of us...if not all have poored months, and years worth of work, blood, sweat and tears into our cars, and thousands of dollars. *shrugs* call me crazy but i consider my car family...i love the damn thing.

sorry about this rant....TRANSAM i wish you luck my friend...i hope you can get this sorted out with the ins company...or at least possibly find out who did it.

TransAm...I heard about what happened to your car this morning and just had to write something. My heart just dropped when I saw the damage. I never knew that over the months I would grow so close to a car but Transams are the one...and it's just so...no words can decribe how many of our hearts are feeling right now. Theft Insurance is something to look into and though this happened to you, it shows everyone what can happen. Hopefully you're not out of a TA for long and wish you luck with everything.

Thanks for your concerns guys. i appreciate it.

The reason i didn't carry theft on my car is because massafukingchusetts insurance rates are sky high. I was paying $1700 / year for just liability. To add fire theft & collision it would have been nearly 2700...and that's with a perfect driving record. i bought the car for 1300 and the book value was 2500. Just doesn't make sense.

MarkB don't worry about the rant, your thoughts are pretty much exactly how i feel.

There was some video that the school got of the guys who took my poor Lucy... i saw it for myself today, i don't think they're going to be able to do anything with it. It took the ****** under 4 mins to break in, get her started and drive out of the parking lot.

Wow, this little instance has just further convinced me to buy an alarm, I wanted to get one soon anyhow, but now I'm like 'dang, I need one NOW'. I feel for ya TRANSAM, that's just wrong. I dont think I could bear living if something like that happens to my car, honestly. Like MarkB said, I also consider my car family. Anyone that personally knows me knows that, to frock with my car is a major :nono: . I keep a gun in my apt and, swear to [insert whatever you like] if I ever catch someone breaking into my car, I will not hesitate to shoot on the spot. Maybe not to kill, but I will leave them something to remember for their little stunt.
There are too many people out there today that think it's cool for some reason to break into cars, steal stuff, etc. It's , anyone can go get a job, just like the rest of the people in the world that work for their own stuff. Sorry, it makes me .......VERY....MAD when I see stuff like this that happens, it makes me wish there was some legal way, assuming you could even catch the criminals, to make them never do anything like that again.
I've got some ideas, but since they usually DONT get caught, I won't even go there.
Well, hope you find another one that will be able to take her place, but it's hard sometimes to replace family members huh?
Good luck,
Ben

Some people have no apreciation for such a beautiful car...

The guy I bought my Z28 from was pretty lucky I guess... The car had been stolen 3 times, but every time, something happened within 3 blocks of the guy's place. One time the clutch locked up, another time it ran out of gas, don't remember the 3rd time though.

Thats a dam shame that such a beautiful Trans Am is now reduced to that.

Ohh no no no. These pictures hurt.
They tried to steal my car last spring but these suckers couldnt get the door open but they destroyed a lot anyway. I had a full insurance so they fixed it for me and new paint and stuff so it looked new again. The insurance company was really nice to me.
Sorry to hear that you didnt had any insurance and i hope you get a new one in someway.
Man i want to kill everyone that tries to trash our cars.

before you let them haul it off forever....take those wheels off there. And give them a new home on your new bird. That way part of the original TA will live on forever.

haha, yea that's me in the picture. Maybe i'll make a theft-deterent sticker saying if you gaff this car you have to deal with this guy, hehe. Only i think i should be holding a large caliber weapon.

I'm filin a claim w/homeowner's insurance for the stuff that was inside my car when it was stolen... as long as they dont rip me off, it should be enough to get me a new trans am but i will be out all of my tools...etc.

Lucy's Last Run

Talked to the detective today… Apparently they were @ walmart jackin **** out of people’s cars w/lucy. Someone saw what was goin on, called the cops. LPD followed them for a while and then they decided they didn’t like being followed anymore… so lucy faithfully, unknowingly busted them away from the poe leece at about 120 mph on I 4. I’m so proud… unfortunatlely she didn’t know any better. Shortly thereafter they dumped & burned her.

Trans,

Sorry about Lucy. I have a gut feeling that you'll find another ThirdGen. When you do, you might want to consider a little more security (obviously). I've had two thefts, and fortunately niether were the TA. You might want to consider a more passive system:

vader, how inconvienent is that theft deterent set up??

Word on the street is (i have yet to talk 2 the detective) they found the punks who raped and murderd lucy!!!! There were 3 cars stolen off of my campus, mine was the 2nd. Rumour has it that the fockers were arrested while inside the 3rd car, and then confessed to the first two.
I'll post more info as i learn about it, i have to call the detective 2morrow.

Part that really sux is even after i get a judgement against 'em for the $3g that my car was worth, (plus maybe some trauma) i'll probably never see the money. It's hard to collect from people who don't have the ca$h to pay.
