Timing chain
Sorry guys for not doing a search since it is diabled but what are the results of a worned timing chain. My firebird has 130K miles on it with leaking valve seals. I'm just curious I'm about almost ready for engine swap(See sig below).

well i'm not an expert on changing timing chains, although i have done my own... it can be done relatively easy (nothing abnormal). as for seals, well, i haven't done those but should have cuz it smokes like a ***** in heat when i start it, but what i'm getting at is that if you're gonna do a swap anytime soon, i probably wouldn't bother with the chain and seals now. but that's just me. i changed my chain at 100k, just for "preventive" purposes. that probably wasn't any help now, was it?

You won't tell just by driving the car. You need to put a timing light on it and watch as you rev the engine. Timing chains usually don't go bad very often. Its possible but more likely you have a vac leak or tune up problem for what it sounds.
Valve seals are easy to replace. You'll need some rope, a valve spring removal tool (compresses spring so that keepers and retainer can be removed), socket set, and some needle nose pliers.
