Do roller cams require a different kind of distributor??
I am replacing my TPI setup with a carb setup, so I obviously need a new distributor. But I read somewhere that hydraulic roller cams need a special gear on the distributor so that the two gears don't chew each other up. Is this true? I have a Comp XR282HR cam right now. I was looking at the MSD billet distributor for standard small block Chevys. Thanks in advance.

Not really. Billet steel roller cams need the special gear.
The factory has been using "melonized" gears for some years now, and most of the aftermarket ones use those too. That style of gear is adequate for a cast-iron roller cam.
I'm running a Performance Distributors on a XR282HR on one motor, and a stock L69 dist on a XR264HR in another, no problems.
