TFS 23* heads... TFS Twistes Wedge GS's

what is the general opinion on these heads... i am looking for honest opinions here so let 'er rip... i know there are going to be people say to go with the AFRs... but i simply can't spend that... i can get a set of these CNC ported for the same price for out of the box AFRs... so what do you guys think?

All assembled AFR heads are CNC ported!

I was sceptical about them until I actually used a set. LIGHTYEARS better than a set of Iron Eagles previously on the motor- 30 more HP even with tiny cam. I'll put them up against a set of AFR 190s any day of the week. And I just bought a set of AFR 190s (and am a big fan of Iron Eagles as well)! If the G2s had straight plugs and larger chambers I would have bought them over the AFRs.

Remember that you need custom length pushrods with the G2s so factor that into the total cost. When you do you'll find they are up in the price range of a set of entry level AFR 190 heads ($1250). Quality don't come cheap.

BTW- Trick FLow recommends maximum valve lift of no more than .520" while an entry level set of AFRs is good to .550"

If you have your heart set on the TFS stuff then I would say go with the 23 deg head. I don't think you will be that happy with them though. Like Damon and ME Leigh said, the AFR heads are CNC profiled and do not require any special parts.

BTW- Where can you get a set of TFS heads CNC ported for that price?

The $150 extra for CNC machining is not porting. Its just a little machining of the combustion chamber to unshroud the valves. CNC porting was $2000+.

you are right... i just went back and read what i had previously posted... and saw my error... the CNC bowl clean up is the extra $150... not porting... i posted that in a hurry and put the wrong thing... sorry bout that... but the guy says he has flow sheets where he gets an extra 20+ CFM from the bowl clean up... you guys think that is possible?

I have had both AFR's and TWS heads. I would opt for the AFR's way before the TWS heads! I had nothing but problems with mine and heard from others the exact same problems i was having. As far as customer service, Trick flow is much better than AFR. If it's the cost your worried about, go for the Dart heads! Great product and they are 2-300 cheaper! And they preform awsome!

the biggest thing you have to worry about with the TW heads is using the correct rocker arms. The majority of problems people have with thier TW heads comes from using cheap rocker arms. I spent a good hour on the tech line at trickflow debating whether or not to get the reg. 23* head or the TW head. I ended up going with the regular ones because they had stronger springs in them , a little bit smaller combustion chamber, and were a little cheaper.

i will probably go with the TFS 23* heads... and i have heard about the rocker problems on them... from what i have head the heads like 1.5s more than 1.6s cause the 1.6s tend to mess up the guides... i dunno... that is just what i have heard... i will probaly go with the TF 1.5s and get a custom cam ground from comp to match what i want... but TFS has a cam i like and if that guy can get me a deal then i will get it... i dunno... too many damn options...
