Solid cam in factory roller block?

Is this possible? My buddy bought a 87-up style roller block and already has the cam so he doesnt want to spend more money on another cam. I've heard of people using hyd cams but never solid ...I'm assuming its possible?

If its possible are the any things that need to be modified?

Thanks,
Chris

Yes.

Nothing needs to be modified. You need cam, lifters, push rods, and a timing set.

RB83L69: Thanks for clarifying, as usual. Why the heck aren't you a moderator? It seems every time I post a question you are right there with good knowledge.

The only thing that crossed my mind was that I always thought the front of the cam is different. But, if he just slaps on an old style timing set it'll be just perfect?.

Yup, that's it.

I don't know why I'm not a mod... I've never asked for the privilege I guess... but you don't have to know lots about these cars to be one, only willing to help keep the peace and enforce the rules.... mostly that seems to be getting done by the existing ones
