Follow the purple wire at the blower motor. Within a foot or so, you'll come to the high speed relay. It might be bad. Then observe that there is a big red wire going to that. Follow that wire. About over the right valve cover you will find a connector of extremely stupid design. I'll bet that's the problem: that connector burnt to ashes like everybody else's. Replace it with the BIG FAT yellow spade terminals, make sure it's the big fat ones because there's alot of current that goes through there.

My 89 IROC has the same problem. I'll have a look at it and see if I can come up with anything.

It could be a couple of things. 1) The high speed relay RB was talking about or 2) The fuse link for the big red wire could be bad. Just put a test light on the bottom of relay where the big red wire is and see if there is power, if so then the fuse link is good. To test the relay put the test light on the bottom of the same relay where the big purple wire is, then turn the fan setting to High, the light should come on, if not, then the relay is bad, or something is wrong with the orange wire that is also at that same relay. Maybe it got cut or whatever.

Whew, do those simple tests and get back to us.

Hope that helps.
