bad lifter?
ive had this ever since the cam swap. There has always been a ticking on the #6 intake(?) valve. Cant get rid of it. I redid the lash a little while ago and replaced the header haskets to fix the exaust leaks and i can say that the tick is definatly coming form the valve train. Its not real loud but there definatly is a sound level difference between the left and right sides of the motor and its noticable when i open the hood. The drivers side is nice and quiet, unlike the pass. side. I also had a rocker nut come loose on this same rocker not too long ago. Could the noise and the rocker nut being forced loose be due to a bad lifter that i got with my cam kit? This is a realativly new engine so i dont think its a stickly valve or anything like that and the cam lobe is still there as well (checked that too). If it is a bad lifter, how can i tell?

just replace it. it's not like they're very expensive (btw the place you got the cam kit from might replace all the lifters)
I have heard that atf in the old can fix ticking lifters butI have no Idear how much to add...

i dont know if im going use those same type of lifters again, even if thier free. Whoever edelbrock uses/used as their suppliers makes pretty dumpy lifters. I thought he stock units where quieter on sart up and looked to have better construction. Ill probably jsut chuck them and say screw the warrantee if one is bad. When i go to replace the lifters ill probably slip in a better cam while im there as well as some other goodies like heads, carb, gears, etc. At the present moment this is my only car so do you think continuing to use it will do any major harm like pulling a stud out or anything like that? i know that vibrations like that can work a stud out in no time.
