Where does GM get there cranks from?

I was just wondering if GM builds there own cranks of if they buy them and just put there mark on them, and if they buy them who makes them? I was thinking about buying a forged crank for a 383 I'm building and was looking hard at the 3.8 stroke one they have now.

GM used to make everything from the fabric o nthe roof to the wheels, and even had an interest in the tire companies. They are outsourcing more lately, but I don't believe crankshafts are among those outsourced items. I do know that some camshafts were outsourced for special engines in years past, but that may now be all internal with their manufacturing techniques.

Ford is second with self-made content, and D-C is a distant third. Very little of a Chrysler is actually made in a Chrysler plant (less than half), and more of their content is imported from outside North America than either Ford or GM. Part od NAFT required that automobiles list the North American parts content on vehicles. Go shopping and compare percentages.
