I'm lookin for a little more umph out of the new 305 block i recently acquired I was looking at World Torquer 305 heads out of Jegs, and a Comp Cams Extreme Energy 270 grind. Would there be a better set up for the 305 of coarse i want to leave it naturally aspirated... is there a better cam for these heads....and how much horse would i be looking at I was hoping for 250-270 I've got Headers and dual exhaust setup also...

 

That's WWAAAAYYYYY altogether entirely too much cam for that combo.

http://www.competitioncams.com/catalog/082_083.html Look at the 08-302-8 and 08-304-8 grinds on that page. One of those would be all the cam you could stand. 250 HP should be attainable with either of them.

"There's no such thing as too much cam, only not enough motor".... a 305 TPI is definitely a case where it's easy to have "not enough motor".

 

Well what about the CompCams Extreme Energy 264 that looks pretty promising.

 

I'd recommend sticking with the ones designed specifically for FI, not for carb applications.
