Found limits of 163k Stock Short Block

Well finally got the time to teardown the motor after it decided to let go at the track. Specs on the motor are/were: Stock Short Block---Pistons, crank and rods. Corvette L98 alum heads, Lt4 hotcam, and NX 150 shot. Pics can be seen at: BROKE SHORT BLOCK. With all the damage it looks like I was spraying but this was in 2nd gear before the spray comes on. Never the less, I have a forged shortblock ready to go in and the heads are already being fixed/upgraded with bigger valves/port/polish/chamber work. Swapping to a 2 stage NX setup on a HSR as well.

To think I had my engine with 165 000 kms on it reved out, off the tach, to the point of I could hear tapping and it is still alive, running almost as good as the day I bought it. I tried to destroy it but it still runs strong.... Damn ain't that just the luck, when you want it to live, it don't when you don't it does. Sorry to see yoy got bad luck man.

You know, there are less destructive ways of checking the thickness of your cylinder bores How fast were you spinning that thing when it let go? And what failed? A piston?
