Question what would make a transmission hard to shift when its parked facing uphill. It only happens when the car has been sitting overnight. Any help guys. I just replaced the Tranny mount and it its installed correct. possible a tranny mount or something else? Any help would be apprcitated.

 

The tranny is holding the car from rolling back. So you have the weight of the car fighting against you, making it hard to get out of gear. I've had to nudge a car back uphill once to get it to come out of park. The best way to avoid this is to set your e-brake, let the car rest on that, and then put it in park. Avoids all this being stuck in park issue, and keeps the e-brake freed up. Try it some time.

 

Ill give that a try thanks for that infomarion anybody else got some opinions. And i take it its nothing to be deadly seriouse about. Maybe you can help witht this problem. I feel a slight thud or clunk everyonce inwhile up by my feet on the driver side when i let off the gas at some points. Its only happens at some points any ideas?

 

What ATC said. See thet lever next to the shift lever? Use it. There is a lot of presure on the parking pawl when parked on an incline, and it can take a lot of effort to disengage it.

 

The clunking sound might be a tranny mount... or the neighbors cat! Its possible it could be slop in driveline somewhere too... Check your universals and rearend to see what kind of play you have...

 

i agree with the parking break reply.....letting the car rest on the tranny cant be good..specially from the thunk you get trying to put it in drive...move to central flrorida..nice and flat

 

happens to me every time I go to my Moms'..set the parking brake then shift into gear...problem solved.
