Pulling motor, need advice.
I was trying to think of the easiest way to do this. Should I leave the bell housing on the tranny, or can I unbolt the tranny at the gearbox and then take off the bell housing and clutch? I'm thinking by leaving the bell housing attatched to the motor it would make it easier to get to the bolts on the bell housing. My concern was that it would be harder to get the input shaft back into the clutch ***. Whats the easiest way to do this?

Unbolt the BH from the motor and leave it with the trans.
It's extremely easy to get to the bolts. Do the 2 top ones from above after you pull the distributor, you can just stand there next to the car and see them; use a short open end wrench after you break them loose with a long box end one. Do those first, then get under the car and do the other 2 on each side, bottom ones last.

I just pulled mine last night with help from a buddy.
The trans. was removed first, and the bellhousing came out with motor.
Neither taking the trans out first, nor pulling the motor with the bellhousing attached, presented any problem.
I pulled the motor out and over the right fender because it was an easier reach for my picker, than going at it straight on.
Although, this method could have it's own problems with the trans. attached, Good luck!
