Transmission mount?
Okay let me know if I have figured out my problem, when I accelerate every now and then it sounds like my car just hit a pothole... It also feels as if something is hitting the underside of the hump in the front of my car. I basically have told myself that it is a broken transmission mount or engine mount, but I am going with the transmission mount. If I am right I would like to know from anyone on here who has dealt with this problem before and let me know how you fixed it. Thanks in advance!

Yes you got it exactly, i had my trans mount break on me, and it thumped the bottom of the floor, and made it sound like it was hitting a pot hole, i got a poly mount, and havnt broke it yet, its been on for about a year.

it's not that hard to fix. jack up the car, jack up the tranny, take off the old mount (it'll most likely be in pieces, mine was), and put the new one in, replace the bolts, and you're done.
i had been driving around with the broken one for so long, i was amazed at the difference when i changed it.
you could run into problems with some rusty bolts, so allow yourself extra time to remove and possibly replace them.

Man, you guys are a big help. If it wasnt dark out I'd go do it now. But it will have to pushed until tomorrow. So I will be sure to let you know how it goes. Thanks again!
it's not really like a fun job or anything. it took me about 3 hours to do it, i kept running into problems.
if you're not sure where it's located, it's towards the center of the car, right underneath the tranny (hence tranny mount). it's bolted to a black cross member that supports a silver box (if i remember correctly) and that is the tranny. just jack that up and put a jack stand under it while you're doing it.
i did it the long way and removed the whole cross member. i've been told that the job can be done without doing this, and from the looks of it, you probably can.
just be careful... remember, if you ran the car for a while before you do it, that big pipe in the middle of the car will be HOT (the exhaust pipe). and wear some kind of eye protection while you're under the car, you never know what kind of dirt and rust is just waiting to jump into your eye.
here's a list of some stuff you'll probably need to complete the job:
new tranny mount
socket wrench (i don't remember what size)
jack
jack stands
maybe a board to make sure the you're applying equal load to the tranny when it's jacked up
a couple rags - it can get pretty dirty under there
that should be about it, if i'm forgetting something let me know

Okay new problem has arosen... money... I aint got none. Anyway The mount broke today, so I am wondering how long until I HAVE to fix it?
Tranny mount
Had the same problem with my camaro...Purchased a poly unit from summit. Installed the poly unit butttttt...now talk about vibrations!!!! It bothered me enough that I went back to a new rubber mount from general motors. The choice is yours..I went back to a rubber mount..a GM mount..went to napa to pick one up..jesus what garbage they had. Im not trying to down talk poly mounts..just did not like the results after I installed. Later
Was it an ES mount or a Prothane, alot of people had vibs from the ES mount, I personally have one and there is a little vib but very livable. People have said the Prothane is identical in dimensions to the stock rubber but won't break.
If you are having vibes from a new trans mount...get back under there and ensure its tightened again....sometime work themselves loose, ya know.
No money? The tranny mount runs between 15-30 bones.

well blain, the no money thing was my mistake i guess, someone had told me they were about 50 bills. guess they were wrong or just messing with me. I went out and got one today. Fixed it in about 30 minutes, much easier than i thought it was going to be

Energy Suspension makes a tranny mount for our cars- they're a little more expensive, but so worth it- they'll practically outlive the car- my $.02
