camaro vs. firebird hood clearance?

Is there a difference? My trans am has a carbed 305 with the L69 dual snorkel air cleaner. In the suspension board, there is currently a post where a Jamex STB can be installed over top of the air cleaner with the same air cleaner I have, but it was in a camaro. I know that just looking at my car with the hood open, I can't see how there would be room for anything else above the air cleaner. Oh yeah, it has a stock 4bbl intake. Is there more room under the hood of a camaro?

When i had both side by side I could swear the FB had a 1/4 inch more clearance then the camaro.

there is a difference in the two, the firebird's nose is more angled than the camaro which would make the hood closer to the air cleaner. I have a factory carbed LG4 with the factory aircleaner and there is an indention in the hood insulation from the aircleaner.

Okay thanks. It confirms my suspicion that putting on an STB that goes over the air cleaner probably wouldn't be a good idea.

Eric:

Did your TA have the functional air scoop and if so did you have to remove the mechanism that opens and closes the scoop in order to get the dual snorkle set up in there.

I have an 83TA with funtional scoop and if I can find a dual snorkle I'd like to still have hood scoop opening when needed.

Thanx.

No, I have the later style Trans Am hood with the two center air vents in the front and the air extractors off to the sides in the rear. I'm not sure what you'd have to do with one of the functional hood scoops.
