Car Died In 3rd

Hey so I was taking my friend for a ride in my bird today. I hit 65 or so on a straightaway and at 4500 RPM or so I dropped it into 4th or 3rd and the tach died and the car turned off.

After costing to a stop, no noticable problems were present. Battery was reading low but working, temp normal, oil normal. It will turn over and it sounds like it wants to start. We think its Ignition Coil. What do you think?

We put a screwdriver in the end of the coil line (distributor end) and groudned it on headers and got no spark. When I replace the Ignition Coil, how much do I replace? Also, what codes should the computer throw?
Thanks guys

Probably not the coil.... more likely the module.

Take them both to a parts store that can test them, avoid unnecessary expense if possible by getting only the parts you need instead of the "maybe it's this, maybe it's that" method of troublshooting.

I pulled the code today - Code 74. Ignition like I thought

Then I probed the sensor from the module, the black connecter attachted to the coil. Its voltage was a good and it pulsated like normal. I've determined its the coil. Any disagreements?
