Power estimates

zz4 short block w/ edlebrock victor junior heads, and a crane cam powermax 272-2(Strong low & mid range torque, daily driving. Good idle. RPM range 2000-5000. Cruise RPM 2600-3000. Comp. 8.7-10.7:1.) camshaft, zz4 intake manifold, and a edelbrock 600cfm carb(i know its too small but gotta sacrifice power for a little gas).Anyone know what kind of hp/torque guess this would be with the 600cfm carb.

Still lots of variables, but should be over 300 under 400 at the fly. 400 would be easy to break, but a bigger carb and high comp ratio needed.

That is a terrible mismatch. The carb is too small. The heads are too big for the rest of the combo.

The ZZ4 intake port measures 1.887 x 1.101" (at least the one in my garage does). It matches to a 1204 gasket when ported out. I don't know the dimensions of a Vic Jr intake port offhand, and Edlebrock's site seems to be down; but for comparison, a Dart Pro 1 215cc head (same intake runner volume) has port dimensions of 2.15" x 1.19".... over ¼" taller, and over 3/16" wider. It port matches to a 1206 gasket, 2 sizes larger. The ZZ4 manifold might not even completely cover the ports on the heads.

A set of Performer heads would be a better match for the other parts. Performer RPMs would be OK if the carb was right-sized to at least a 650, and preferably a 750; if you want to go with a carb that limits the motors top end to 5200 RPM or so like that one will, you don't need huge flow in the heads. If it can't get through the carb and intake, it doesn't matter how big the heads are.

Thats a much better combo, you might get 300 at the wheels. But there are still lots of varibles. You should try using a program like desktop dyno.
