193's or 416's

i got a set of truck heads on the car right now (14102193). i was wondering if the 416 heads off my 305 would be worth porting and polishing as apposed to the 193's. i think that someone said that they are the swirl port heads and they should be avoided. can someone also tell me what kinda times you all are getting with the ported 416's

The 416 heads are some really good heads. So yes port them up and run them. If your running them on a bigger motor then a 305 add some bigger valves and unshroud them to get a bigger combustion chamber.

The 193s are garbage. They are nearly as anti-performance as 70s smogger heads, but for other reasons (namely the swirl-port obstruction in the intake runner). The 416s don't have that blob of metal.... so they're better heads for flow.
