what do you think of this setup?

i'm getting another camaro with a 350 in it. i'l be making it to run from about 3000-6000. heres what i had in mind for it.

i cam around 230-240 duration at .050(i think its a roller)
heads like pro topline, dart, or AFR around 200cc or whatever is good for 3000-6000rpm. something good in the $1k range
performer rpm intake
holley 750 carb
10-10.5:1 compression
3000-3500 stall on a th-350 probably
about 3.73 rear gears

what do you think? what will i be around in hp and trq? with vortec heads what do you think i'l be around?

your *probably* not going to need a 3000rpm stahl unless your going for a real decent sized cam, you don't give any useful cam specs (what kinda lift?), and the only heads your gonna be able to afford (for $1k, out of the heads you listed) are the pro toplines.

Doesn't sound like anything real special, pretty typical selection of components, what kinda rods/pistons?, balanced?, is it roller or not?

i was thinking about a comp XR294HR if the engine is a roller. it has 242 248 duration .540 .562 lift and 110 lobe separation.

heads would probably be 215cc dart pro 1s. there about $1200.

what do you think the difference would be with aR288HR cam with 236 242 duration .520 .540 lift and 110 lobe separation. also 200cc heads instead of 215.

a 383 with the dart 215cc heads and a cam similar to the 294 made 530hp and about 510ft lb or torque.

You are way over-camming that motor. Everyone tries to go way too large. That cam is even on the large side for a 383.

Think of something much smaller like these extreme comp cams.

224/230 .502/.510 .535/.544 110deg xtreme energy

230/236 .510/.520 .544/.545 110deg xtreme energy

First spec for lift is with 1.5s and the second with 1.6s. these are at .050" lift.

With the cam you are thinking, the car will not idle at all, nor will it like a stall convertor below 4000 rpm. It will be a terrible to drive on the street and make less power than it would have with a smaller cam.

These cams will idle with a lope but still be streetable and will like your 3000-3500 convertor as well as those 3.73s.

That compression ratio is a bit high for a street car too. Compression really isn't that important in terms of actual engine output and 10 would be about the most you should go if you plan to drive it often.

Go with 180cc toplines or the 200s if you really want to splurge. The 180s outflow the 200s up to .500 so the 200s are only a benefit when your valves are all the way open. the 200 cc's will slow done the intake charge as well. They won't hurt much if at all but i don't know that they will be any better than 180s.
