non center bolt valve covers?
sorry if this is not the right place to ask this but i didnt know where to ask so here goes. I have a LG4 in a 86 trans am and i thought that 86 engines where supposed to have center bolt valve covers but mine dosent, is this special or am i just mistaken.
No, this is normal. 86 was the oddball year. 86's retained the paramiter(sp?) valve covers, hydrolic flat tappet cams, and old style bolt patter on the intake manifold. They did gain a one piece rear main seal though. In 87, they all switched to hydrolic roller lifters, new style intake pattern (just the angle in the center bolts), and center bolt valve covers.
