I need someone to explain to me interstate battery replacement deal..

i got my battery in june 2001 and now it is april 2003 which makes the battery 1 year and 10 months old. My battery says 60 month warrenty(sp?). But people say im gonna have to pay money to get a new battery even though it is under warrenty?

can anyone explain this?

Its a pro-rated warranty.... As time goes on you'll have to pay more and more for a replacement.

I don't know Interstate's specific policy; but most of the battery mfrs will replace it outright for some time, usually a year, and then after that you pay for the # of months you've used, as a fraction of the warranty period. So on a 60-month battery that's 18 months old, it will probably cost you about 18/60, or a little less than 1/3, of the price of a new one. Might have the details on the battery, or on your original receipt. Make sure it's really the battery, and that there's not something wrong with your car that killed it; it would bite if you got another and had the same thign happen again (very common).

Interstate's are an 18 month free replacement.After that they are pro-rated.Each battery has a different pro-rate,it depends on the type of battery,and the warrenty length.You can go to www.interstatebatteries.com to find out more.
