What sensor is this, located on pass side??
Its on the pass. side head in between the the 3rd and 4th spark plugs. The connector that plugs into the sensor just broke and I would to find out what it is so I replace that connector. Thanks
It almost sounds like the temperature sensor that turns the electric fan on and off. Do you have an electric fan?

I do have an electric fan. If that is the the temp. sensor, then this would probally be a good time to replace it with one of those switches that will turn my fan on at a lower temp. Anyway let me know what you think.
Yes. Replace it with the Hypertech sending unit and it will come with a new connector also. This was one of my best mods.

It is the temperature sending unit to the gauge in the dash. As far as I know the switch for the fans is located on the passenger side tank of the radiator. Bob
No the temperature sensor that goes to the gauge is on the drivers side head. The sensor he is refering to IS the fan switch sensor.

I think the sensor on the driver side is the knock sensor, and the one in the radiator is what sends the signal to the temp guage in the dash.
the one on the pass. side block beside the starter is the knock sensor and the one on the head is the fan thermostat thing. i would like to know what the one on the radiator is too. i noticed there was nothing hooked to mine. perhaps why my fans still wouldnt work after changing the switch and the relay.

IIRC the sensor on the radiator is the low coolant sensor.

great! thanks for the info on the sensor in the radiator as mines not connected either and wasn't sure if I missed something in the harness changeover.I pulled the entire harness out of my Malibu and replaced it with the entire (fusebox, lights, etc) harness from the GTA. Bob

So... Here's the final word? The gauge sending unit is in the driver's side head, the secondary fan switch is on the passenger's side, and the computer sending unit is at the front base of the manifold. Any disputes? - John '89 L98
