That guy sounds like a rip off artist. Heck, he could have loosened your valve covers on purpose and have oil slowly leak out. Thus causing you to come back and say yup I need a rebuild. Go somewhere else, or better yet change it yourself.

Beware of those oil change places. They will rip you off the first chance they get. You need this, buy this, we recomend this . Trust no one with your car that you don't know. Keep your eye on the oil and that motor will last for alot longer.

i wouldn't worry about it much either, just check the level. best suggestion i can give is get a chilton's manual and start learning how to do routine maintenance. that'll give you a nice general knowledge of how everything works and with time you'll know your car inside and out and won't have to rely on a mechanic again

Does the car smoke?
Leave large oil puddles?

1 qt in 1000 mi is nothing. I had an 83 that used a gallon of thick @$$ diesl truck oil every two weeks. Just keep oil in it.

Let Jiffy Lube change it. They'll top off the oil for you.
