My Z28 is down on power, need help!!!
I have a 1991 Camaro Z28 350 TPI w/dual cats.
I take it that both my cats are shot because they are tapping very loudly. I think I might have also put in some bad gas at the locat Cenex.
My question is: Why is my car down on power?
Could the cats alone be the problem, or is it probably the fuel filter, or both???
Thanks,
Solidus

Having a plugged cat (let alone 2), will have a huge effect on performance. You can have all the air you want coming in, but without it flowing smoothly out, it is pointless. If you have had some bad fuel, a new fuel filter would be a good idea too.

But how do I know If my Cats are plugged?
All I know is when I drive it, the cats tap very loudly.

I would either have your cats replaced or cut off...I had my cat clog up on me back when I first bought it, and it effected performance majorly...I thought I had a ***** for a little while. I went to our local Muffler Shop, and had the cat cut off. When I left the place, I thought I had put new heads or gears in. The motor felt new, the power difference I couldn't believe. Just replace them anyways, I'm sure it needs it regardless.
