what is the best aftermarket intake manifold (carb)

I currently have a LG4 305 wich is all stock, and has an intake manifold that is leaking, I was thinking about replaceing the stock manifold with an aftermarket, which works the best? also it would have to be able to pass emissions, as I drive the car every day, I was thinking Edelbrock, any suggestions or help would be great, also a good carbureator.

Thanks

Morgan

A LOT of people run Edelbrocks, and most seem to like them. I might run a Weiand on my LG4 just to be a little bit different. You can check out their site http://www.holley.com/HiOctn/ProdLine/Weiand.html there.

And from everything I've heard, the stock carb is very good with proper tuning, and can handle a lot of HP.

I have an L69 with a edelbrock performer and a holley 600. Dont get a holley if you do not have much mechanical experience. They work great when set up correctly, but it takes quite a bit of experience to fine tune them. I like the edelbrock performer, they are very common because they are a nice design. I bought mine for $40 at a swap meet. If you get a used one make sure the machined surfaces are flat and the carb holes are not stripped. I had to helicoil 2 of them.

You have a few choices for your motor:

Emissions
Perfomer EGR #3701
Weiand Action-Plus EGR
Weiand Team G Street Ram (yes it has EGR!)

Non-Emissions
Edelbrock Performer
Edelbrock Performer RPM Q-Jet
Weiand Action-Plus
Holley Contender
Weiand Action-Plus

I like it. It's making power to 6000 RPM with the Comp XE262H cam, a Crane Hi-6 ignition, and the computer controlled Quadrajet with AU metering rods from JET performance and a "B" hanger from Edelbrock.
