Cruise control
I've had my car for nearly five years now ('86 SC w/ 2.8L and 5 speed) and my cruise control has never worked (not that I need it all that often). What's a likely problem? I did a quick check of the hoses and such under the hood and couldn't find any problem there. I'm kind of hoping it's the cc module because that's really easy to diagnose. I'm hoping it's not the driver controls, cause that's going to be a pain in the *** to fix. So again, what's the most likely problem?

The most common problem with the cruise control system on these cars is the wire for the switch. Usually, the wire connecting the control switch to the rest of the circuit breaks. It is a black wire located at the base of the wiper/cruise/blinker stalk where the stalk connects to the steering column. The constant movement of the stalk eventually fatigues the wires and couses them to break. You wont be able to see the break in the wires because the wires are inside the sheathing.
To diagnose mine, I grabbed the wire and moved it around while driving and the cruise control started working.
If that's what's wrong, you will need a new stalk.

Depends like mentioned could be a loose wire or if you have the older style unit mounted on the DSLF fender the unit is most likely poped. The older ones have a drive gear set and a brass ring that like to wear out. Once the brass ring wears the speedometer jumps around alot, so poor people like me gut them instead of replacing them disabling the cruise function. Of course with the pedal floored constantly its like cruise control
