passenger side wheel sticks out farther then drivers side???

What the heck is wrong with me car??? I had a little run in with a curb a while back, but got the wheel replaced and all is good. Could it be that I also bent the lower control arms? Give me some ideas on where to start looking. Thanks

Would this be a front or a rear?

If it's a rear, it might be the Panhard bar is bent, or its brackets.

This probably won't help, but my '69 Bird was like that. The more I looked, the more I noticed that everyones's was like that. That's just how they were. I am sure that problem has been fixed, but how bad is it? Does the car "dogtrack" down the road? Any vibrations at certain speeds?

im w/ rb83 if its the rear its most likely the panhard rod. this happens to lowered cars to. thats one reason to get an adj. phr.
brett rockey the guy who owns BMR showed me his lowered Z28 before he put on an adj.phr one side stuck out of the well an inch and the other side was tucked in more than an inch.
another possibility could be if your car had the offset wheels (i thought all 16x8s were but not sure)
on my car the fronts have 4.5" backspacing
and the rears are 5"
did u get a front or rear replacment?

tzweelz,

I was wondering the same thing about the wheel offsets, except note that the signature lists the "vette wheels", otherwise known as classic chevy rally wheels. These things come in all sorts of sizes and offsets as original pieces and then Wheel Vintiques and other companies make repros in many other sizes, 15x7's for the corvette are most common. But the 60's Camaro could be bought with either 14x6 or 15x6 (I think) versions of the same style wheel. I've seen people modify the offsets of these wheels to fit different vehicles as well. I would recommend measuring the offsets just to be sure.

As others have said if it is the rear I suspect a problem with the panhard bar. My car was off center from the factory and it got worse when I lowered the car. I suggest an adjustable panhard bar and make sure nothing is bent.

BTW, I centered mine with the rims and tires off of the car. If you had a rim replaced it could be an offset problem with the rim.

My 83 is the same way. I didn't really notice it until I found a little spacer behind the right rear wheel and the other side didn't have one. I took it off and after I put the wheels back on I noticed that the wheel on the other side stuck out more.

Yeah, that might be the prob. I do have replacement shocks (KONI) and lowering springs. I did fish tail into a curb pretty hard too. It is the rear, and it has been getting worst. I've noticed that at real low speed the whole rear end shakes back and forth. I'll look into the panhard rod. Thanks much.
