my 86z28 lg4 will crank but it wont start. i pumped the gas like crazy but i didnt even smell gas. we took the fuel line off the carb thinking it was clogged and then pumped it and gas came out like crazy. it started and was fine that day, this morning i go out to start it and nothing. no smell no nothing. could this be my fuel pump or what???

I had the same problem with my car. If you cleaned out the fuel line you might have gotten something loose, like other debris in the line that got stuck in the float needel. Or you may have flooded comustion chambers, and or fould plugs, because of priming it so much. But it sounds most likely like a fuel pump, if it is eletronic and you dont here it self prime as you turn the key then that is it. But if it is mecanical it might be it too ( if its mechanical you won't hear it start up obviously), it might also be a clogged filter not letting gas through.

melon,
Fuel level, fuel lines, fuel filter, pickup screen (in tank), or pump.
You may have a problem in the float/inlet needle and seat on your E4ME if the fuel pump makes pressure but there is no fuel in the bowl. If you think the float may be hanging, try the old hammer handle "tap test" on the carburetor air horn - lightly!

if you want to know if you are getting gas into the carb, just look into the primary venturi and work the accelerator( with the engine off) you should see gas squirt out the accelerator pump nozzels. Also, remove the filter in the carb. fuel inlet it may be clogged.
