Anybody ever heard of this happening . . .?
I am not very experienced with cars so take it easy on me. When I got home last night, I put my car in park and it died on me. I tried to restart it but it wouldn't. This morning I go to try to start it and it started without any trouble but I could tell it was running bad. The whole car was shaking along with the engine. I let it run for a while and it sort of settled down. I gave it a little gas but the engine sounded like it wasn't getting gas and it was missing. I turned the car off and now it won't start again. I am thinking it's either the fuel pump or the EFI system. Please help!
By the way, it's a 91' Firebird and I don't believe it has any performance parts on it.

I've had the same happen on my car. When I first crank it up it'll barely run and if I give it a lot of gas it seems like it want's to die out. I'll just hold the gas in to get it up to maybe 1500 rpms and hold it there till the engine warms up then it's fine. I had mine die when I put it in park before too. I sped up the idle and it fixed that.

First off, how long ago was the last tune up? Bad cap, rotor, wires, fuel filter, O2 sensor.... can do what you describe.
Also, best to pull the code from the ALDL connector, look through the Tech Central area for "how to", either pick up a Chiltons, or post the codes (if any) here for us to see.
Is the car TBI or TPI?
