I adjusted the TV Cable and now I have a 1500 idle??

I adjusted the TV cable on my freshly rebuilt 700R4 for a harder shift, and now w/out a load it idles @ 1600 rpms, when it's supposed to idle @ 600. when it's in gear it idles @ 600, but the ses light comes on??
it shifts harder, but when I'm @ WOT, it's picking up speed like it's @ 1/2 or even 1/4 throttle. WTF? it sucks, all I did was adjust the TV Cable, and now my car is waayyy slower, but the shifts are firm. HELP ME!

Slow,

You might have a damaged throttle cable (it might be hanging in the housing). If the cable is sticking im the housing, it is probably about to fail. You can disconnect both the cables (all three if you have cruise control) to check the idle position without interference. If the idle is still high when hot, you have other problems.

Later,

you've adjusted it too tight most likely. the tv cable isn't adjustable to how you want the trans to shift plain and simple. adjust it to proper tension and your problem should go away.

Zippy, you can get a "bit" of adjustment out of the TV cable. Problem is, go too far, and the second you floor the gas, it'll self-adjust to it's normal position.

Unless of course the cable's adjusted for a very soft shift, but who would do that?

vader, it doesn't look like it. tom P is right. it's right back @ where it's supposed to be.
I talked to my cousin today (big guy @ GM) and since I am getting error codes from the mat sensor and the tps sensor, he thinks there is a bad ground.
I swapped the TPS from a '85 2.8 that was laying around, and now it's idling fine and it has power again, but whenever I let off the gas, the SES light comes on, and when I put my foot back on the throttle, it goes off. It's the code 22. I don't know. I hate my damn car.
and the shift kit didn't do sh*t. 650 miles on the new tranny, and @ WOT it shifts like jello. it only shifts relatively hard when I let off slightly when the motor hits 4,500. but when I floor it and let it pull all the way to 5750 (where it shifts) it shifts like jello. the 2-3 shift sucks, but the 3-4 it kinda hard (@ 55mph) i can "feel" it go into lockup. it may be stronger with the B&M Racing parts (the transkit) and the 3200 rpm tci TC (that stalls @ 2700 dead stop, 3000 rpms by slightly brake torqueing it) isn't even what it's been claimed to be.
For those (like tom p) who are aware of my "Dead 1988 700-R4" post in the V6 board, i think I got ripped. my a** is red and sore from being raped of $1,300.
